We practice a hybrid model at Symphony, which means your care can involve a blend of telehealth and in-person sessions or be fully virtual.
Telehealth treatment options give us the ability to observe you in your own environment. By not having to travel to our facility, you'll save time and money, all while receiving excellent care from anywhere in BC and the Northwest Territories.
Telehealth is appropriate for almost everyone! It's a great option for parents and guardians juggling busy schedules, professionals who can't leave the office often, and those living in communities without access to specialized services.
Our practitioners have a wealth of knowledge and skills to offer you.
The days of sitting in a dark room until your symptoms are gone are in the past! Today, research supports a graduated active recovery. At Symphony we offer the complete cycle of concussion care from education through treatment.
Our multi-disciplinary team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, clinical counsellors, speech pathologists are passionate about concussion and guiding you through your recovery as quickly as possible.
We recognize that your recovery could also require services outside of our team, in which case we will connect you with our community colleague's in chiropractic, neurological optometry and more.
A concussion is a form of brain injury that can affect the functioning of your brain. Contrary to some thoughts, you do not actually need to hit your head or lose consciousness to be diagnosed with a concussion. People may have a concussion and not realize it.
At Symphony, if you are experiencing the following signs and symptoms we can help you on your rehab journey:
"Some of these symptoms may appear right away, while others may not be noticed for days or months after the injury, or until the person starts resuming their everyday life and more demands are placed upon them".
~ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Most concussions resolve with minimal treatment if cared for properly from the onset. Research supports working with a health practitioner trained in concussion treatment early to ensure that your brain recovers properly as opposed to simply compensating!
Acute Concussion Care Sessions may involve:
If you are still experiencing symptoms as described above 4 weeks after your concussion an in-depth assessment is recommended.
At this further stage in concussion rehab your treatment plan may involve:
We believe your baseline measures should be reflective of your total function - not just one system.
Your complete baseline measures include:
Our assessment utilizes an FDA Approved App to allow you to keep your findings with you! It also allows you to create your "neurological norm".
We want to be able to support you beyond your time in the clinic! Did you know that 5/10 concussions get missed!! Our continued monitoring works to eliminate and minimize the chances of this happening to you!
Our continued monitoring provides you:

"As a coach brain injuries are a tricky subject that in many ways are still unknown. Natasha & her team at Symphony Rehab go above and beyond to create an action plan for not just return to play but full recovery in all aspects. Her communication with the player and coach put everyone on the same page. I recommend any athlete that has a concussion, no matter how minor, to visit Natasha & her team to feel confident in returning to action at 100%!"
Lee Stone, Head Coach and GM Campbell River Storm Hockey Team
"Symphony has been our answers from the creator. I will be forever grateful for finding Natasha. I truly believe that I would not have got my vibrant 4 year old back had Natasha not taken her on & worked hard with us to help my daughter bounce back from this second & scary concussion. Natasha knew exactly what she needed to do for my daughter and seeing the difference in her from start to finish has been truly amazing.
I will always recommend Symphony every chance I get."

After hard work in in-patient rehab, you are leaving the hospital team and entering a new world. Just because you're discharged though doesn't mean your journey stops - you've got goals you're still reaching for!
Or perhaps, you're still trying to process the news the neurologist shared with you last week. You're trying to understand what this new diagnosis means for you and your family... and honestly, the shock hasn't quite worn off yet.
Are your emotions on a bit of a rollercoaster as you try to understand what life will be like?
Whether you are recovering from a stroke, a spinal cord injury, or have been diagnosed with a progressive neurological disorder (ie. Parkinson's, MS) We are here to help!
Our brains are dynamic - not static- they have the ability to reorganize, restructure and change if they are challenged sufficiently.
Neurological Physiotherapists have additional expertise in understanding your nervous system and the role it plays in your movement and function. Our goal is to help you stay healthy, strong, and doing the things you love to do.
Our Therapists have post-graduate training in the Bobath Concept for neurological assessment & treatment as well as Clinical Neuroscience.
The concepts are built around current neuroscience and rehabilitative research and science ~ it is not a formula ~ but a problem-solving approach in which the therapists are trained in the analysis of the components of your nervous system movement and movement dysfunction.
It utilizes elements of postural control, selective movement, facilitation, coordination of movement, and sensory information and its role in your function. Every treatment is focused on the client's individualized presentation and goals.
Individuals who have had a stroke, a spinal cord injury, a brain injury, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, or cerebral palsy, and any other neurological diagnosis can utilize our neuro-rehab services.
We utilize the principles of neuroplasticity to create a novel experience and lasting change in your nervous system & function.
There are many ways to create a unique experience in your rehab - some of which include utilizing our technology! Symphony is the only clinic on Vancouver Island and most of BC to employ tools such as
" I have been through a lot of physical therapy that left me quite paralyzed on one side. I was referred to Symphony by a good friend - I always feel that I get the best care and advice. I would recommend their services to anyone requiring neurological specific treatment."
