Persistent concussion care

Still Dealing With Symptoms Weeks or Months Later?

If your concussion symptoms aren’t improving — or you’ve been told everything is “normal” but you don’t feel like yourself — you’re not alone. We help uncover what’s really going on and guide your next steps forward.

You’re not imagining it, and you’re not stuck

Living with persistent concussion symptoms can be incredibly frustrating.

You may have been told to wait it out.
You may have had scans that came back “clear.”
You may have started to question what’s actually going on in your body.

But here’s the truth:

Just because something isn’t showing up on a scan doesn’t mean nothing is happening.

Your symptoms are real.
And there are underlying reasons they’re continuing.

What You Might Be Experiencing.

While most concussions resolve within the first few weeks, some individuals go on to experience persistent symptoms that can last months—or even years. This can feel frustrating, confusing, and at times, discouraging.

These symptoms can include:

• Headaches
• Brain Fog
• Not feeling like yourself
• Fatigue
• Dizziness
• Light headedness
• Difficulty in busy environments
• Sleep disruptions
• Mood difficulties

What we know clinically—and through emerging research—is that persistent concussion symptoms are rarely caused by just one thing. Instead, they often reflect a combination of factors across multiple systems in the body, which is why a coordinated, integrated approach is essential.

Our Persistent Concussion Program focuses on the whole person.

Our Approach

At Symphony Brain Performance, we don’t look at concussion through just one lens.

We bring together multiple disciplines to assess how your brain, body and nervous system are functioning, and how they’re interacting.

Your care may include:

• Physical Therapy
• Chiropractic Care
• Clinical Counselling
• Speech Pathology
• Occupational Therapy
• Kinesiology

Instead of being referred between different providers, your care team works together, giving you a more complete and connected plan from the start.

one of a kind care

At Symphony Brain Performance, everything we do is guided by one core belief: your symptoms are not random, they are messages. Our role is to listen, interpret, and respond with precision.

We don’t chase symptoms. We uncover what’s driving them.

Advanced Technology

We don't chase symptoms - we let your brain and physiology guide us. Using state-of-the-art technology, we look deeper to understand what's actually driving how you feel. This detailed insight is what allows us to build a treatment plan that's truly individualized to you.

Integrated Care Model

Your body's systems don't work in isolation, and neither do we. We look at how each system functions on its own and how they're communicating with each other - because treating the whole person means understanding the whole picture.

Client Education

This is a partnership. The more you understand your body and your plan, the more empowered, and effective, you become in your recovery. From day one, we walk you through what we're finding, why it matters, and where we're headed together.

Persistent concussion process

What to expect from your care program.

Recovery doesn’t always happen overnight—but with the right approach, progress is absolutely possible.

01

Assessment

Your care begins with a comprehensive multi-system assessment led by your therapist, where we combine advanced technology with clinical expertise to evaluate how your brain and body systems are functioning and working together.  From here, we identify your root drivers and build an integrated treatment plan that prioritizes the areas contributing most to your symptoms and adapts as your needs evolve.

This program looks beyond physical rehabilitation alone. We address the broader influences that impact recovery—like nervous system regulation, mindset, lifestyle, and trauma—because each plays a vital role in your healing journey. Your care team may include involving other specialists on our team as needed. We also partner with trusted community providers to extend your support network when specialized services are needed.

02

Education

A concussion can feel confusing, overwhelming, and at times, isolating. You may notice changes in how you think, feel, and function—without fully understanding why it’s happening or how it all connects.

That uncertainty can be one of the hardest parts.

At Symphony, we believe that understanding your experience is a powerful part of your recovery. We take the time to walk you through what’s happening in your brain and body, how your symptoms are connected, and what that means for your healing. This is a collaborative process. We work together to set meaningful goals, build a plan that makes sense to you, and ensure you feel confident in each step forward.

03

Rebuild your foundation

This is where we begin to rebuild what the concussion may have disrupted—your balance, focus, cognitive stamina, physical capacity, and your confidence.

Through targeted, individualized rehabilitation, we progressively challenge and retrain each system—helping you move better, think clearer, and tolerate more. As your capacity expands, we integrate these systems so they work together seamlessly to support your performance in daily life, work, and sport.

Because this stage isn’t just about recovery—it’s about rebuilding a stronger, more resilient foundation to move forward from.

04

Return to what you love

This final phase isn’t just about symptom resolution—it’s about returning to your life with confidence, capacity, and trust in your body again.

Whether that means stepping back into demanding work, competitive sport, academics, or simply being present with family and friends without exhaustion or symptoms, we guide you with intention.

Through a structured, progressive plan, we prepare you for the real-world demands of what you’re returning to, building the capacity, resilience, and strategies you need along the way.

Because we don’t just clear you to return—we make sure you’re truly ready to step back into what you love and perform within it.

"Symphony has been our answers from the creator. I will be forever grateful for finding Natasha. I truly believe that I would not have got my vibrant 4 year old back had Natasha not taken her on & worked hard with us to help my daughter bounce back from this second & scary concussion. Natasha knew exactly what she needed to do for my daughter and seeing the difference in her from start to finish has been truly amazing. I will always recommend Symphony every chance I get."

Meet your care team

Care that looks deeper and listens first.

At Symphony Brain Performance, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all care.

Your brain, your body and your experience are unique, and your care should reflect that. We take the time to truly understand what’s going on beneath the surface. By combining clinical expertise with advanced assessment tools, we’re able to look deeper into how your brain and nervous system are functioning — not just what your symptoms look like on the outside.

But just as importantly, we create a space where you feel heard, supported and understood, by every member of our team.

  • Your first two assessment sessions will each be 60mins in length. If you need time to settle symptoms at the end, we have a dedicated nook with dark, quiet and decreased sensory stimulation to help you recover.

  • There is the very real possibility that your symptoms will be elevated after your initial assessment.  Please know this is normal - if this wasn't happening you wouldn't need to be seeing us.

We recommend that for your assessments you arrange to have someone drop you off and pick you for your appointment.

  • Yes. We direct bill most major providers. Please bring your insurance card to your appointment.

If you are an ICBC client please know there will be a user fee associated with your appointment.  Our client services team will be able to share exact amounts.

  • Absolutely. Many clients find comfort in bringing a family member or friend to their first session.

  • Rest your brain - but not in isolation. Gentle movement, hydration, balanced nutrition, and consistent sleep are your best allies before we meet.

If you feel like trying something - please do - but know that the goal is to keep symptoms from increasing more then 1-2 points in intensity.  If this does happen simply pause, let them settle, and then either resume the task or switch to a new task.

What we DO NOT want you to do is isolate yourself in a dark room - this will make your recovery longer.

  • At Symphony, our goal isn’t just to give you a diagnosis, it’s to truly understand how and why your symptoms are showing up.

Concussion and neurological conditions are rarely isolated to one system. They often involve a complex interaction between the nervous system, vision, vestibular system, cervical spine, cognition, and emotional health. To assess this thoroughly, and thoughtfully, takes time.

Your first session allows us to begin understanding your story, history, and initial system findings, and is typically where we incorporate our diagnostic technology to gather objective data about how your brain and body are functioning.

Your second session gives us the space to complete a detailed bedside assessment - allowing us to go deeper clinically, connect the dots, and confirm patterns without overwhelming your system in a single visit.

Just as importantly, spreading the assessment over two sessions allows us to respect your nervous system. For many clients, doing everything in one appointment can be fatiguing or even symptom-provoking. By pacing the process, we gather better information - and you have a more comfortable experience.

This approach ensures that your treatment plan is precise, personalized, and built on a complete understanding of you—which ultimately leads to more effective and efficient care.
